A touch of Dutch.

‘Bloem’

Definition: noun

  1. Flower in Dutch

But how do I say it?? - ‘bloom’

Growing up my family owned a horticultural Nursery, everyone worked hard to grow beautiful plants all year round. When I was a child I loved walking through the greenhouses seeing everything grow and flowers come into bloom. My own ‘garden’ in a small space between greenhouses kept me entertained for hours. My first job was helping my Mum on the markets, learning lots about plants, but also about business and the hard work that goes into being self employed.

I've since had a very different career path. Starting out in retail in Carlisle and eventually working my way into Supply Chain Management. At the end of 2023 after 5 years with the company and a relocation to the Netherlands; I made the decision to leave my much loved job at innocent drinks to pursue something new. So here we are: The Bloem.  I want to create a space where you can always find something special for your home or garden , or to give as a gift to a loved one for theirs. The inspiration for the name came from my time in the Netherlands, which as the flower capital of the world, had plenty of Tulip fields to inspire me.

Incorporating Vintage products came from my own love for vintage homeware, and wanting to show people how well vintage can work in even the most modern home, giving new life to pre-loved pieces and adding really unique pieces to your home to reflect your style. The process of sourcing Vintage and researching their history is something I really enjoy, and I love adding my floral arrangements to a Vintage vase, it adds an extra level to the floral design.

I hope you enjoy this range as much as we enjoyed putting it together!
